Savills Energy addresses two stark scenarios for the future of UK's energy sector when it launches its Aspects of Energy review at the All Energy Conference in Aberdeen this week.
With 20 years' experience in the energy sector, Savills' expertise covers development of major energy generation and infrastructure projects. With a close eye on the legislative and policy landscape, the Aspects of Energy report focuses on the challenges that lie ahead for the industry over the next decade.
Nick Green, of Savills Energy Scotland, explains: "There are two dramatically different scenarios for the future of the UK's energy sector. In one, the country has a sustainable industry with increased use of renewable sources backed up by new nuclear and gas stations. In the other, the UK will be crippled by uncertainty, lack of supply and blackouts.
"While the reforms announced over recent months will go some way to defining the future direction the industry will take, there are still many unanswered questions which will impact on the certainty that investors need to take those vital next steps to funding the generation capacity needed to support future energy demand. Bold decisions, rather than political in-fighting will determine which scenario plays out in the next few months and years," he concludes.
Savills Energy are speaking and exhibiting (Stand H30) at the All Energy Exhibition and Conference which takes place at the Aberdeen Conference and Exhibition Centre on 22-23 May 2013.
