Hunter Campbell supporting local cycle for Alzheimers

Towards the end of last year, a number of like-minded and overweight friends got together and formed the 'FAT BOYS CYCLE CLUB' in an effort to shed a few pounds - or at least that's what they told their wives! In reality they gathered together on a Sunday morning and set off to find the Cafe selling the best Ulster Frys.

Initially the journeys were confined to Islandmagee, Carrickfergus and Larne, but they soon decided to be more adventurous and travel further afield - to Ballygally, Carnlough and Cushendall in one direction and as far as Belfast, Comber & Killinchy in the other.

It was during one of these outings that THE FAT BOYS decided to challenge themselves and raise money for The Alzheimer's Society at the same time as some of the members had close relatives who had suffered from this debilitating disease. And so the great Belfast to Bushmills Charity ride was born - to take place on Saturday 11th May.

Pictured above are some of the members taking part, resplendent in their new kit sponsored by Hunter Campbell Estate Agents.

Gary Allen, SPOKESman for the group (pun intended) said that "all the cyclists have been training very hard and we are confident that all will successfully complete the course."

But what of the Sunday morning Frys? "That's the only downside" says Gary - " Now it's more like a cup of tea and a cucumber sandwich. If this keeps up we will have to change our name to "THE FIT BOYS CYCLE CLUB"

If you would like to support the FAT BOYS and the Alzheimers Society, donations can be made at any of the Hunter Campbell offices in Ballyclare, Carrickfergus & Larne.
